WEEK 8: 4/12 - 4/16
For one week, you are the VP of Creative pitching your concepts for 5G immersive journalism experience. Pitch us your ideas and let’s make it happen.
The New York Times Challenge
How you’ll benefit:
You will be exposed to the world of journalistic storytelling
You will gain perspective for how 5G will change the way we live and work
You will gain storytelling skills
You will acquire new industry connections
This challenge will expose students to the fast-growing world of Photogrammetry and the power of immersive storytelling using 5G through NYT’s partnership with Verizon. Inspired by several great examples (like Emmett Till’s Murder, and How America Remembers Its Darkest Moments; Chinatown, Resilient and Proud; and Masks Work. Really. We’ll Show You How), you will learn how such technology is shifting the field. For this challenge, you will imagine that you are the VP of Creative at NYT and you are presenting your top 3 ideas for 5G lab scientists to bring to life.
At Friday's An Hour of Mentorship, mentors will meet with students in a small group setting to hear their 5G lab pitch, and discuss the takeaways from the experience. Mentors will also share their experience of how ideas are sourced and nurtured in large company environments.
